After the Storm
A few frames from a calmer morning
Selsey storms never leave quietly.
They stomp off like someone slamming doors on their way out — lots of noise, a bit of drama, and the promise of a story later.
When the light returned on Monday, I took the Voigtländer 28mm out for some exercise. Not the ideal lens for anything that insists on moving, but I’ve always had a soft spot for equipment with personality flaws.
I picked a point where the waves should break — emphasis on “should” — and let the sea decide whether it wanted to cooperate. Five attempts, three successes, which is about as good as life gets.
There’s a strange beauty to the moment after chaos: everything still unsettled, but no longer dangerous.
A kind of fragile optimism — the sort that makes you think, “Yes, I can work with this.”
